Many people regard suffering as a negative thing. But the truth is that it can bring us closer to God. Didn't Jesus, Lord of all Creation, die for us? We are called to imitate him. Maybe not by dying on a cross, but by putting up with things, being tolerant, being kind when you would rather not, overcoming our selfish tendencies.
